The CURVE Evolution MM phono stage fits between the entry level Standard model and the top of the range Ultimate.

The design uses a classic passive RIAA EQ network bookended between the triodes in a pair of ECC83, with an ECC82 triode in our novel switchable cathode follower output stage.

The CURVE Evolution features parts that are seldom seen even in many much more expensive products, and are combined together to produce results that far exceed that normally expected at this price level.

The all important capacitors use a film in oil dielectric, where the oil also serves to damp the resonances of the metal plates, as a result there is a marked reduction in character compared to simpler capacitors which are invariably made with undamped plastic insulators (which tend to give the sound a harder and more forward presentation).

The signal resistors are arguably some of the finest (and certainly some of the most expensive) Carbon film designs available. They are a critical part in achieving the results we desired and play superbly with the chosen capacitors.

The signal wiring is our own low capacitance and well screened pure copper design, effectively the same as found in the Chain Evolution interconnect cables.

The power supply, the heart of any piece of audio electronics, features an oversized low noise toroidal transformer. The HT supply is rectified by an EZ80 valve running into a multi stage capacitor input design.

The sonic result is a highly entertaining blend of refinement and vibrancy. The ingredients used gel together to produce a sound with strong musicality and low colouration. The Evolution sounds natural and delicate when needed but punchy when the music demands, This is along with an open and expansive sound, making it an utterly beguiling way to listen to your records

Naturally our standard non ferrous aluminium chassis also plays a part in the open and transparent sound of all our phono stages.

If you have a low/normal output MC cartridge then we would recommend using it with one of our STEP MC step up transformers.
